The fitness and bodybuilding communities lost a legend on Saturday, March 23, 2013. Mr. Joe Weider passed away that morning. Joe Weider influenced men and women worldwide to exercise, eat correctly, live healthy lives and chase their dreams.
Joe Weider?s accomplishments are numerous. He published Muscle & Fitness magazine, he developed and sold exercise equipment, he developed and sold nutritional supplements and along with his brother Ben founded the International Federation of Bodybuilding.
Joe Weider?s original magazine Muscle Builder morphed in Muscle & Fitness Magazine. The success of Muscle & Fitness magazine bought about the development of his publishing empire which included Flex Magazine and Muscle & Fitness Hers.
Weider exercise equipment is sold in stores worldwide and Weider supplements were used by bodybuilders for years.
Joe Weider and his brother Ben founded the International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB) and the Mr. Olympia contest. The IFBB is the largest and most prestigious organization in professional physique contests and the Mr. Olympia contest is bodybuilding equivalent to the Superbowl.
Joe Weider helped bring a young bodybuilding champion named Arnold Schwarzenegger to America and mentored him throughout his incredible careers in bodybuilding and acting.
Mr. Joe Weider?s influence in the fitness and bodybuilder worlds are unparalleled. Known as the Trainer of Champions and the Master Blaster, Joe Weider used his publications to educate and promote weightlifting and exercise and their positive effects on health and fitness.
Thank You, Mr. Joe Weider. You were truly a great man.
