The increase of company has propelled the development of more and far more commercial properties in India. To meet the requirements, government is also promoting the development of hotels, airports and other infrastructures. A lot of special economic zones and industrial properties are being approved and developed to promote enterprise in remote regions.
Another aspect of this increasing demand for commercial properties in the metro cities is the strict regulations by the government to stop all commercial activities in the residential areas. The commercial or enterprise activities need to only be carried in the commercially approved spaces so that the life in the residential areas is not disturbed. Hence, the demand for commercial space India has gone up remarkably. With enhance in demand for commercial space prices and rents have increased drastically.

It is not easy to purchase out commercial property in India now as it locks up huge amount. Getting commercial space on rent is the recent trend followed in India. Renting commercial space is finest option when one is sure about not investing a huge amount behind owning commercial spaces. In fact, real estate developers too are now not interested in selling commercial space, they are trying to rent that space for longer period of time in order to gain benefit of capital appreciation of land in future with heavy cash flowing due to rent coming.

Renting Commercial Property in India

Being a tenant one need to know every thing about trends of rent following in industry especially with commercial estates. There are numerous components of rental rate you pay to your landlord. As a commercial tenant apart from the rent that you pay to your landlord there are other payments also maintenance of building, property taxes, building insurance and management of the property. This doesn?t hold true for all cases as it may depend upon the agreement made between tenant and landlord, but in perfect instances this holds accurate.

Generally there are two sort of rent you will come across when you will be searching for commercial property on rent in India. They are Gross rents and Net rents. Gross rent is an all in rent. A true Gross rent includes all of the mentioned expenses like building insurance, building maintenance, property taxes, management of property, etc. and any other expense that may be specific to a particular property.

Net rent is a type of rent that includes nothing extra. Net rent is the quantity that you are paying to your landlord in order to use their property for particular period of time. Whole property if being utilized by single tenant then all other extra costs must be bared by that single tenant. In properties such as office buildings or multi tenant retail malls the Net rent is commonly accompanied by extra rent such as common area and maintenance plus property taxes. All this costs are to be incurred by all tenants on sharing basis. The extra rent covers the expenses mentioned above. The additional rent is typically an estimated amount based on the previous years operating expenses. The expenses are then allocated to every tenant proportionally to the quantity of space that they have of the building. So if a building has 10,000 Sq Ft of rentable space, and a tenant has 1,000 Sq Ft retail store, then they would pay 10% of the total expenses. The Additional rent is quoted on a per Sq Ft basis as well.

One should carefully think for the requirement of space necessary by them before renting commercial space in India. Other wise it may price you other extra costs for dead spaces you have with you. Obama and Fellow Liberals Heckled -- by Other Liberals (ContributorNetwork)

COMMENTARY | Remember when new DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Shultz told US News how really cool it will be when Obama reminds people during his campaign of all the things he has done for women since he's been in office and how her imaginary Republican "war on women" will backfire on the GOP in the 2012 election? Yes, the outreach to women during the campaign "will be unprecedented" in little Debbie's mind.

Well, it has backfired all right, but not quite in the unparalleled manner in which little Debbie predicted. According to the Washington Times, when White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer told liberal activists at the Netroots Nation conference in Minnesota that the president championed an equal-pay law, the moderator replied, "Frankly we're a little sick of hearing about that one."

Ooops.

Additionally, less than 24 hours earlier, White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley got an ear-full from business leaders of the National Association of Manufacturers in Washington about the Obama administrations unnecessary interference and burdensome regulations in the industry. As Mr. Daley listened to the volley of complaints, he was left with no other suitable response than to admit, "Sometimes you can't defend the indefensible."

White House spokesman Jay Carney's feeble attempt at damage control was, "You have to understand that he [ Mr. Daley ] went in there with no prior knowledge about the cases that were put before him." Loosely translated, Mr. Carney was informing us that, although they sent him to the event as an official White House spokesperson on the issue, Mr. Daley didn't know what he was talking about.

"But obviously the [examples] that sounded bad," Mr. Carney fumbled further, "he thought, you know, sounded bad, and he said so."

At an appearance in Miami, FL, President Obama tried in vain to recapture the glory days of his 2008 campaign, back when he was an un-vetted enigma in whom people could cut and paste their most cherished visions of Hope and Change. According to a report by Politico, the air of the 2,200-seat concert hall at the Adrienne Arsht Center for Performing Arts was even filled with the same old soundtrack, including "City of Blinding Lights" by U2 , the president used as his 2008 anthem. The only thing different from 2008 was the size of the crowd.

"The expectation was 900," a Democratic official said, seeming to find some sort of success in the fact that 980 tickets were sold. So, if they were only expecting 900, why book a 2,200 seat venue? Was it to ensure Obama's ability to obtain that ominous God-like reverb , which has become somewhat of a not-so-subtle aspect of the president's speeches over the years and noticed by more than a few people?

Then there was the man who heckled Obama about slacking on that promise about stopping AIDS. Of course, in the spirit of supporting an individual's civil rights for which liberals are so famous, the man was quickly silenced and ushered from the hall. Strangely, officials in Obama's administration seem to think the rise of criticisms from their base will ultimately somehow prove "helpful" in the president's re-election efforts. Obama supporters feel otherwise.

NPRreported on the discussion held by Netroots Nation called "What To Do When The President's Just Not That Into You."

"I honest to God thought I was voting for these guys and that it was going to be the first time in my lifetime that I'm finally in a position of power," John Aravosis, whined. John, a gay-rights blogger on AMERICAblog, thought he would be working with the White House on a regular basis, saying, 'OK what could we do this year on gay stuff?' Wouldn't it be cool, oh, 'Don't ask, don't tell,' this is great.' "

"It's like the president's not our boyfriend anymore," Daily Kos editor Joan McCarter pouted.

"You're going to have to knock on doors," Mr. Obama said in a more-than-half-empty concert hall in Miami. Although he left out the "get in their faces" and "argue with them" message he did remind them, "You're going to have to talk to all your friends and neighbors, and you're going to have to talk to the naysayers."

Yeah. Good luck with that.

Hands-On: Making 4-Player Mayhem With Rayman Origins

Rayman Origins is just like New Super Mario Bros. Wii, except you can slap the other players. And I think we can all agree that is the exact feature Mario needed.

This long-awaited return of Ubisoft?s onetime mascot, the armless, legless whatsit hero and star of several acclaimed platforming games, features a four-player cooperative mode that is suspiciously reminiscent of Nintendo?s four-player Wii Mario. Since it is a multiplatform game, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners will also be able to get in on the slap-happy action when Origins is released later this year.

When I tested the E3 Expo demo of Rayman Origins at a preshow event last month, the first thing that struck me was that it uses the same workaround that Mario Wii does for having four players engaged at once: If a player dies, he comes back as a balloon, which can be floated around the level until another player pops it and restores him to active duty. If all four players end up as balloons simultaneously, it?s game over.

This is exactly what Nintendo?s game does but with a humorous Rayman twist. The character isn?t placed inside a bubble ? they become one, inflated out to beachball proportions like Violet Beauregarde.

Goofy humor is what sets Rayman Origins apart. Slapping your friends around with the attack button has absolutely no use. It?s just cathartic fun. At the end of a level, the characters (Rayman, his pal Globox and two Teensies) pose for a wacky picture behind one of those Coney Island photoboards. (Does anybody know what those things are actually called?)

Rayman and friends have more moves than Mario, too, inasmuch as they have that attack button. On the ground, it?s a slap to the face of enemies or friends. In the air, they?ll do a powerful flying butt-stomp. There?s one more salient feature: By holding up on the analog stick, characters will hold their hands in the air, creating a platform for others to stand on. If you boost your friends in this way, you?ll be able to access areas you wouldn?t on your own. Origins?s levels are filled with secret chambers and hidden goals, so you?re encouraged to work together.

Travel Leisure Category - Primary Destinations in Thailand Article ...

With several sights to see and surprises to offer, Thailand could be one of the best locations you should visit. Culture, beaches, people, and heritage sites are some of the things you can expect when you travel to Thailand.

Bangkok ? Traveling to Thailand would not be complete without visiting Bangkok. As the nation?s capital with an estimated population of over 15 million (including the neighboring provinces), this city is by far the largest in the country. The city is divided into 50 districts or khet but for tourists and those who are new in the place, 6 divisions would be more useful. These are Ratchadaphisek in the northeast section of the city, Sukhumvit in the southeast, Silom in the south, Thonburi in the west, Rattanakosin in the central north, and Phahanyothin in the north. The whole Bangkok district would give you a diverse taste of culture, history, religion, modernity, and fast-phase life. You can actually witness how all these blend together to comprise the whole Bangkok package. Buddhist temples, historical museums, towering buildings, contemporary restaurants and hotels, shopping centers, canals and rivers, and food make Bangkok a one of a kind city in Southeast Asia.

Phuket ? Down south, Phuket features magnificent beaches, tropical sunsets, white sands, blue seas, and breathtaking scenery. No wonder it is the most popular vacation destination in Asia beating every beach resort in the neighboring countries. It has several beaches like Kata Beach, Karon Beach, Patong Beach, Kamala Beach, and Surin Beach. The island showcases several water sports and activities including parasailing, jet-skiing, and scuba diving. By day, Phuket is alive with beachgoers and shoppers and by night, lights, sounds, and party people dominate the whole island.

Chiang Mai ? The second largest city in Thailand with an estimated population of more than 200,000. This city is located in the northern part of the country and offers a greener and quieter city. Chiang Mai?s tourism is becoming more and more popular and permanently settling at this city is very common. When you travel to Thailand and visit Chiang Mai, you surely would want to see museums such as Hilltribe Research Institute Museum and the Chiang Mai City Arts & Cultural Center. With religion and history enriching the city, you can see several Buddhist temples such as Wat Chiang Mun, Wat Chiang Mun, Wat Phra Singh, Wat Oo-Mong, Wat Phra Jao Mengrai, Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, and Wat Chedi Luang. The oldest temple dates back in the 11th century. Chiang Mai features attractions such as Chiang Mai Flower Festival in February, Bo Sang Umbrella & Sankampang Handicrafts Festival in January, The 2nd Orchid Fair also in January, and the Loi Krathong Festival usually falls in November.

Pattaya ? Located 150 km. north of Bangkok, Pattaya is one of the most popular tourist destinations, which offers great nightlife, beer and go-go bars, and a wide array of sport activities. Visit Pattaya when you travel Thailand is a must. Although it is the most overdeveloped part of the country in terms of tourism, prices in Pattaya still remain with reach. In fact, prices of food, accommodations, and transportation are very affordable.

Krabi ? In the small province of Krabi lies a small town with the same name. Paying a visit Krabi town when you travel Thailand is worth the time. Located south of Bangkok near Phuket and Phi Phi island, the town features great beaches along with high end hotels and not so expensive hotels that cater to tourists of different classes.

No matter where you choose to visit in Thailand, the Land of Smiles, you will surely have a great time.

Domestic Violence in Relationships ? Blog Archive ? What does ...

Divorce and separation can be emotionally difficult. Add domestic violence allegations into the mix, and the situation can become even more distressing. All Australian states have their own laws that provide for the safety and protection from domestic violence. But how is domestic violence dealt with when it comes to issues of family law and parenting arrangements following a divorce?

Domestic violence allegations during the divorce process have been in the media spotlight recently with recent proposed changes to the Family Law Act to include a wider definition of family violence. The core difference of the definition is its expansion to include behaviour that coerces, controls or makes someone fearful.

The changes are intended to prioritise the safety of a child when parenting arrangements are made following a divorce. Behaviour such as stalking, the placement of financial restrictions, animal abuse, and physical destruction of property (amongst other activities) will now be recognised by the law as a form of domestic violence. Furthermore, the changes remove the previous deterrent for raising the issue of family violence in the courtroom, such as the penalty fees for false allegations.

A number of issues concerning these domestic violence laws have been in the public spotlight recently. When a Sydney man climbed to the top of the Harbour Bridge, he closed the bridge down during peak hour traffic to get his message out about the rights of fathers after divorce. His actions both reflected and sparked further debate around the ramifications that the changes to domestic violence definitions might have for the rights of fathers and children after divorce. Fathers? groups are concerned that the changes will make it even more difficult for fathers to get time with children and make it easier for false allegations to surface in messy divorce cases.

On the other side of the story, there have been a number of cases of domestic violence in the news recently that report fathers going to extreme violent measures (including suicide and death) following a divorce. Headlines such as ?Obsessive Love Lost: Why some fathers kill? have given weight to the new laws that protect children.

Allegations and incidences of domestic violence, therefore, are an important consideration when it comes to divorce and legally binding parenting arrangements. Domestic violence ? from physical harm to aggressive or controlling behaviour ? are now an important factor when considering the best interests of a child.

If you need help understanding domestic violence laws, or are a victim of domestic violence, then domestic violence attorneys can help you break down the law and be aware of how changes to the Family Law Act might affect you.

Domestic violence attorneys can help you unlock family law and understand how new changes regarding domestic violence may affect you. Head to www.wattsmccray.com.au to find experienced lawyers.

Senate set to vote on debit-card swipe fees (Washington Post)

After months of intensive lobbying by banks, the Senate is slated to vote
Wednesday on a controversial bill that would delay changes to debit-card swipe
fees that would cost the industry billions of dollars.

Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) unveiled revised legislation Tuesday that requires
four banking regulators to study the issue for six months. The Federal Reserve
would then have an additional six months to rewrite the rules governing swipe
fees. Tester?s original bill called for a two-year delay and would have
required Congress to vote again to approve additional action.

lane - When Celebrities Adopt ? More pain Than sterling? | Home ...

I don?t remember hearing attend in 1974 that the actress Julie Andrews (with her husband Blake Edwards) adopted two orphaned Vietnamese girls in the aftermath of the war. Only recently have Andrews? comments arrive to my attention.

?It goes wait on several years to the time when Blake and I were members of the Committee of Responsibility,? said Andrews. ?It was organized to bring children who were victims of the Vietnam war to the United States for medical attention and treatment they couldn?t receive over there. Hundreds of youngsters were brought to America, treated, and returned to Vietnam. We had an opportunity to behold some of those children? ? and they became the parents of two of them.

These days, we read so distinguished more in the news about celebrities who adopt children from throughout the world. I?m heartened by the improved publicity as a measure of the improvement in American attitudes to adoption.

According to a original recognize by the Dave Thomas Foundation, 89% of American adults are generally familiar with adoption, and three in ten judge adopting children themselves. These statistics record ample progress over a generation or two ago, when adoptees often weren?t told until later in life (if ever) about the ?secret? reason they joined the family. Though the stigma associated with adoption hasn?t completely disappeared yet, but it?s diminished considerably.

Many of my colleagues are concerned about the invasion of privacy (the child?s privacy, that is) that occurs when a celebrity adopts. level-headed, there?s a benefit: as with all news about celebrities, the stories about adoption support as a model for what?s possible, and the publicity helps normalize the experience. After all, if Angelina Jolie is motivated to adopt children from Ethiopia and Cambodia, why not you?

Particularly first-rate for the problem of millions of orphaned children throughout the world are the publicized cases of celebrity adoptions in second and third world countries. In addition to Jolie with her partner Brad Pitt, Madonna (with her husband Guy Ritchie) recently adopted a slight boy from Malawi. Mia Farrow, after having four biological children, adopted ten more from throughout the world, some of them with disabilities. I?m worthy more fervent in Mia?s commitment to children than I am in the sordid chronicle of her then-partner, Woody Allen, who had an affair with Farrow?s Korea-born daughter Soon-Yi.

The quiz of transracial adoption also plays out in press coverage of celebrities? family building. An qualified model for prospective adopters is filmmaker Steven Spielberg who (with his wife Kate Capshaw) adopted two African-American children through the foster care system, and now works to promote the importance of permanent families for the 114,000 children now living in American foster homes. Other celebrities who adopted children of other races include Michelle Pfeiffer, and the aged couple Tom flee and Nicole Kidman.

Single parenting through adoption also enjoys profitable coverage in the press. Kate Jackson and Calista Flockhart adopted as single women, as did Diane Keaton at the age of 50 (a girl) and 55 (a boy) . Lesbians and gays who rob that adoption is a road unavailable to them can net hope in the legend of Rosie O?Donnell, who (with her partner Kelli Carpenter) now has children both by adoption and by birth.

As with all publicity about celebrities, however, hurt can be done by the ignorance of the stars. I?ll never forget the ?20/20? special hosted by Barbara Walters a few years ago covering adoptions by ABC-TV celebrities. On the point to, Maury Povich, who with his wife Connie Chung adopted a baby a birth, said that he would contemplate his child?s interest in his birthfamily to mean that he?d failed as a father ? a precise slap in the face to what we know about the benefits of initiate adoption.

And I cringed when Rosie O?Donnell proudly proclaimed that she told her child ?God made a mistake having you grow in your birthmother?s tummy? ? a violation of the importance of valuing the role of the adopted child?s first family.

smooth, some publicity on successful adoptions is better than none.

Taking pictures in China can land you in a Chinese prison if you are in the wrong place at the right time! This is exactly why, compared with the rest of the world, there have been so few published photographs of Chinese culture. In fact, the majority of commercial coffee table books and stock photos and about China focus wholly on tourist attractions rather than people or street life. It takes a keen eye and familiarity with Chinese culture for a photographer to be able to evade the Communist authorities and escape the country with his roll of film in tact. The following fourteen famous Chinese photographs, spanning from olden times to the digital age, including several scandalous (but nonetheless iconic) images, managed to slip past the Communist censors and have come to define ?New China.?

1) Baby Soup by Zhu Yu

Chinese performance artist Zhu Yu?s most famous piece of conceptual art, titled ?Eating People,? was performed at a Shanghai arts festival in 2000. It consisted of a series of photographs of him cooking and eating what is alleged to be a human fetus. One picture, circulated on the internet via e-mail in 2001, provoked investigations by both the FBI and Scotland Yard. The piece?s cannibalistic theme caused a stir in Britain when Yu?s work was featured on a Channel 4 documentary exploring Chinese modern art in 2003. In response to the public reaction, Mr. Yu stated, ?No religion forbids cannibalism. Nor can I find any law which prevents us from eating people. I took advantage of the space between morality and the law and based my work on it?.Yu has claimed that he used an actual fetus which was stolen from a medical school.

2) Edison Chen Sex Scandal

The Edison Chen photo scandal involved the illegal distribution over the Internet of intimate and private photographs of Hong Kong actor Edison Chen with various women, including actresses Gillian Chung, Bobo Chan, Rachel Ngan and Cecilia Cheung. The scandal shook the Hong Kong entertainment industry in early 2008 and received high profile media attention locally and around the world. Chen admitted being the author and copyright owner of most of the photographs, and stated that the private photographs had been stolen and published illegally without his consent. He made a public apology, especially to the women involved, and also announced that he would ?step away indefinitely? from the Hong Kong entertainment industry.

3) Tiananmen Tank Man by Jeff Widener

Tank Man, or the Unknown Rebel, is the nickname of an anonymous man who stood in front of a column of Chinese Type 59 tanks the morning after the Chinese military forcibly removed protestors from in and around Beijing?s Tiananmen Square on June 4, 1989. The most iconic photograph of the event was taken by Jeff Widener of the Associated Press, from a sixth floor balcony of the Beijing Hotel, about half a mile (800 meters) away from the scene. Widener was injured and suffering from flu at the time. Though he was concerned that his shots were not good, his image was syndicated to a large number of newspapers around the world, and was said to have appeared on the front page of all European papers.

4) Nanking Massacre by Unknown

The Nanking Massacre or Nanjing Massacre, also known as the Rape of Nanking, was a mass murder and war rape that occurred during the six-week period following the Japanese capture of the city of Nanjing (Nanking), the former capital of the Republic of China, on December 13, 1937 during the Second Sino-Japanese War. During this period, up to hundreds of thousands of Chinese civilians and disarmed soldiers were murdered and 20,000?80,000 women were raped by soldiers of the Imperial Japanese Army. Although the Japanese government has admitted the acts of the killing of a large number of noncombatants, looting and other violence committed by the Imperial Japanese Army after the fall of Nanking, some Japanese officials have argued that the death toll was military in nature and that no such crimes ever occurred. Denial of the massacre has become a staple of Japanese nationalism.

5) Mao Zedong Portrait by Unknown

In 1962, Mao proposed the Socialist Education Movement (SEM) in an attempt to educate the peasants to resist the temptations of feudalism and the sprouts of capitalism that he saw re-emerging in the countryside from Liu?s economic reforms. Large quantities of politicized art were produced and circulated ? with Mao at the center. Numerous posters, badges and musical compositions referenced Mao in the phrase ?Chairman Mao is the red sun in our hearts? and a ?Savior of the people?. In October 1966, Mao?s Quotations From Chairman Mao Tse-Tung, which was known as the Little Red Book was published. Party members were encouraged to carry a copy with them and possession was almost mandatory as a criterion for membership. Over the years, Mao?s image became displayed almost everywhere, present in homes, offices and shops.

6) Big Eyes by Xie Hailong

Su Mingjuan became the image ambassador for Project Hope. The Chinese Youth Development Foundation used ?Big Eyes? as the promotional icon. Based upon an incomplete tally, as of 1994, this photograph was used more than 100 million times in newspapers, posters and other materials and that probably made it the most printed photograph in history. It is ranked number one in the survey of ?most memorable photographs in the first 50 years of the nation.? Project Hope has collected 2 billion yuan [ed. about US$300 million) in contributions. A survey of the donors showed that half of them were not familiar with Project Hope and its work, but there were few who didn?t know ?Big Eyes? and many of them donated money on account of that image. In January 1994, the Hong Kong tabloid Next Weekly reported that Project Hope could not account for HK$70 million in donations, implying the donations from the people of Hong Kong to help the Chinese children have been misdirected to the pockets of certain people. The affected party filed a libel lawsuit that did not get resolved for six years. The net outcome was that Next Weekly had to pay HK$3.5 million in damages as well as court fees. In 2002, Project Hope was reportedly involved with embezzlement of donations. National Audit Office confirmed that in 2002 it audited financial situations of Project Hope but the report was never publicised.

7) Falling into Pothole by Liu Tao

A photographer has come under fire in China for his pictures of a man falling off a bicycle. Liu Tao was accused of lying in wait to take his pictures instead of warning people of the danger. Readers of the Beijing Youth Daily, which published the shots, wrote in to express their feelings. One wrote: ?The pictures are well shot, but the person who shot this is disgusting. He knew there was a pit, but was waiting there for someone to fall over.? The photographer was accused of lying in wait to take his pictures instead of warning people of the danger. And another said: ?The photographer should really be condemned since he knew there definitely would be other victims.? Liu defended himself, saying: ?I just knew that the city government has paved the pit, and without my pictures, the pit would not be noticed by the government, and there would perhaps be more people falling over.?

8) Faked Photo Of Rare Antelope by Liu Weiqing

Xinhua, China?s state-run news agency, issued an unusual public apology for publishing a doctored photograph of Tibetan wildlife frolicking near a high-speed train. The deception ? uncovered by Chinese Internet users who sniffed out a Photoshop scam in the award-winning picture ? has brought on a big debate about media ethics, China?s troubled relationship with Tibet, and how pregnant antelope react to noise. The photo was the work of Liu Weiqing, a 41-year-old photographer who had been camped with his Jeep on the Tibetan plateau since March, as part of a highly publicized series by the Daqing Evening News, a regional newspaper, to raise awareness of the rare Tibetan antelope. Mr. Liu was also under contract with Xinhua to provide photos for China?s largest government-run news service.

9) Faked Photo of South China Tiger by Zhou Zhenglong

Chinese photographers said the South China tiger on digital pictures, released by forestry authorities and widely discussed on the Internet, is a fake. Technological analysis showed the South China tiger on the 40 pictures was not real and could not serve as evidence for the existence of the wild animal. The digital picture, purporting to be a wild South China tiger crouching in the midst of green bushes, was released by the Forestry Department of northwest China?s Shaanxi Province at a news conference Zhou Zhenglong, 52, a farmer and former hunter in Chengguan Township of Shaanxi?s Zhenping County, photographed the tiger with a digital camera and on film.

10) Living Blow-up Doll by Wang Jiayun

Chinese female high school student Wang ?Blow-up doll? Jiayun has received a lot of attention on the internet. After high school student Wang Jiayun?s weibo photographs spread on the internet, her name became a top search term on various major web portals. Wang Jiayun?s height is 164cm, her weight 42kg. As of the afternoon on the 17th, the number of visits to Wang Jiayun?s weibo already surpassed 3.5 million. On the 17th alone, the number of visits exceeded 1.18 million. Wang Jiayun says she was born in Kowloon of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and presently lives in Shenzhen City of Guangdong province in China.

11) Pink Light District by Tom Carter

Few foreigners have photographed China as extensively as American travel photographer Tom Carter, who spent 2 years backpacking 35,000 miles across all 33 provinces. His seminal photography book CHINA: Portrait of a People has received critical acclaim for its unbiased portrayal of life and humanity in modern China. However Carter?s best-selling book was banned for sale in Mainland China by the Communist Party for including 15 images (out of 900) of Chinese prostitutes and brothels (of which Carter coined the phrase ?Pink Light District? in various cities including Beijing and Hong Kong. Carter refused to either defend or apologize for his ?pink light? photos except to say ?the cool thing about photographs ? especially these ? is that they speak for themselves.?

12) Government Leader Beats Reporter by Wang Xi

From Wang Xi?s (victim) blog: ?You may have seen the news reports that I made about the chopping of trees in Niujia Village, Lihe town, Dezhou/Linyi city during which I was shoved around by the village director Tan Zhuanhe. It was like this: I walked out of the village government office and he was there waiting for me. I told him that I was going to the village with him. He said fiercely: ?Go, let?s go to the village!? I asked, ?What kind of attitude is that?? Suddenly he swung his fist and hit me in the temple. I was stunned. I reacted and yelled: ?What are you doing!? He raised his hand and slapped me. Here is the moment captured by the camera. During this episode, the town government party secretary named Ying stood on the side and watched with arms akimbo. He did not intercede. When I asked secretary Ying for help, he turned around and walked away.?

13) Rural Chinese Strip Show by Unknown

Nothing is known about the origin of these images accept that they are from an underground strip show in a rural Chinese village, province unknown. Such performances are illegal in China (along with pornography), however bribes to notoriously-corrupt local Chinese police usually allow them to stay open.

14) Villager Protests Nude Photo Shoot by Unknown

A naked photo shoot in China was disrupted when an outraged local villager began attacking photographers. The 20-year-old model and more than 10 photographers descended on the Shenxiandong Forestry Park in central China?s Henan province to shoot a series of arty nude pictures. They were accidentally discovered by a local villager who quickly informed other residents to come and look. Unsurprisingly it wasn?t long before a group of male ?art? lovers had gathered at the scene to watch. However, their wives were not so appreciative and were quick to scold their errant husbands and send them home. Then several hours into the photo shoot a local pensioner, armed with a tree branch, made his disapproval clear when he attacked the photographers. The man, Shen Guoxian, 60, said: ?These people are here to shoot naked pictures, which is too dirty and polluting to the environment. It damaged the family bonds in the village.? However, one of the photographers involved complained that the villagers were ?too narrow-minded?. Another added: ?Body art is a high-end art. The human body is the most beautiful work of mother nature.? Park manager Wu Guangwei said: ?They, as tourists, have bought tickets and have the right to take pictures. It?s hard to us to balance the two ends; the villagers and the artists.?

First Hands On With Nintendo's New Wii U, the Next ... - Koi fish pond

    Michael McWhertor
?First Hands On With Nintendo's New Wii U, the Next-Generation of PlayI played Nintendo?s Wii U earlier this week, the exciting successor to the Wii that not only plays a lot like the Wii?now with a new, unique twist?but a console that plays nicely with the Wii controllers and accessories you already have.

It is an experience that incorporates the social appeal of the Wii while also delivering a high-definition visual experience and control interface that video gamers may be more comfortable with. Nintendo says its Wii U is designed to appeal to ?the most experienced players? as well as those whose first interaction with video gaming was with the original Wii.

The core of Nintendo?s Wii U is its new controller, a hefty, sturdy, rectangular device with buttons and sticks on its edges and a 6.2? touchscreen controller in its center. It works in tandem with Nintendo?s new console hardware, with video streaming from the console to Nintendo?s controller. In addition to buttons and touchscreen, the controller sports a camera on the face of the controller, a microphone, and tilt-sensitive gyroscope. Nintendo?s Wii U outputs its HD visuals simultaneously to a television and to the controller?s screen, meaning players can either game on their TV, their controller screen or both a the same time.

Wii U is compatible with original Wii games and accessories. Some of the Wii U games we played relied on other players with Wii Remotes and Nunchuks.

Nintendo showed us the unique possibilities of gaming on Wii U, how it might affect how games are designed by Nintendo and its third parties, bringing one of a kind experiences to Nintendo faithful.

What Nintendo did not discuss during our hour-long demo was the Wii U?s technical details, with a few exceptions, its online component or games in development for the new system. We don?t know

Most Affordable and Best Prices on All Cheap San Diego Hotels - Travel

San Diego is one of the largest cities in California. It is also a great tourist attraction due to the various attractions and the splendid climate it has to offer. Coupled with its natural scenic appeal, it becomes one of the most happening tourist destinations up north after Los Angeles. Vacationing in San Diego, needn?t always be expensive. You can find quite cheap hotels in San Diego if you plan your trip well in advance.

Planning is the most important part of any trip. Even if you decide to stay in 5 star hotels in San Diego, you are likely to get cheaper quotations if you book your stay beforehand. However not every traveler can afford to stay in a five star establishment. But this doesn?t mean they have to scrape by in some hovel. A stay at a budget hotel can be just as comfortable and fulfilling as any good hotel.

The simplest trick to make sure you don?t burn a hole in your pocket with your hotel bill is to visit in the off season.

As occupancy is relatively low in even the best San Diego hotels during late winter in the months of January and spring i.e. February and March, this is the best time to visit this fantastic city if you are on a tight budget. October and November too can let you have cheaper lodgings.

To get the most affordable lodgings in San Diego, stay away from the central hub of the city. Downtown is always costlier than Oceanside or Imperial Beach. As these places are not too far from most of the San Diego attractions, these would make for an ideal stay.To get the best prices on cheap hotels in San Diego, searching on the internet is a great option.

From renowned travel sites you can get the best quotes and pricing which can help you plan your trip according to your budget well in advance.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wi-Fi: A Worthy Rival to the iPad 2

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wi-Fi is the first Android tablet to mount an effective challenge to Apple's iPad 2 in the area where Apple does best: design. And let's face it, where tablets are concerned, design occupies center stage. Happily for Samsung, the Tab 10.1--available in limited distribution starting today, starting at $499 for a 16GB version--parlays its design and its Android 3.1 operating system into a machine that vaults to the head of the Android pack.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wi-FiIn my hands-on testing, the Tab 10.1 achieved perhaps the best design compliment an Android tablet could hope for--often being mistaken by passers-by (including Apple iPad users) for an iPad 2. The confusion is understandable when you see and hold the Tab 10.1 for the first time. It has a slim profile of 8.6mm (0.34 inch)--a hair's breadth slimmer than the iPad 2's 8.4mm depth.

From the side, the two tablets look very similar. The Tab 10.1 edge is more rounded, though, while the iPad's is tapered. The tablet comes in two colors: Shipping first is the White model, which couples a silver-painted plastic edge with a white plastic back (identical to the limited edition Google I/O version of the Tab, sans the Android graphic imprint); available on June 17, when the Tab 10.1 ships in volume, will be a Metallic Gray alternative, with edges and back that more closely match. I actually preferred the Gray varietal, even though that model would be less likely to be mistaken for Apple's ultrahip tablet. I liked the feel and texture of the dark backing, as opposed to the more chintzy feeling plastic white backing.

The Tab 10.1 edges the iPad 2 on weight, too: 1.25 pounds, to the iPad's 1.33. And it stands slightly taller and narrower than iPad, dimensions you'd expect simply by virtue of its 10.1-inch display. It measures 10.1 by 6.9 inches, compared with iPad 2's 9.5 by 7.3 inches.

    Using the Galaxy Tab 10.1

All of this is meaningless, though, compared with the reality of actually handling the Galaxy Tab 10.1. The Tab 10.1 feels lightweight and extremely well-balanced in-hand. I found it conducive to hold in one hand or two, and found it lightweight enough that I hardly noticed it was in my bag. I'd still like to see the weight on tablets of this size get closer still to the one pound mark, while adding even more built-in functionality (like additional ports), but this is a good start towards that goal. Especially considering the Tab 10.1 is Samsung's first mass-market tablet of this size (I'm not counting the region-specific, heavier and thicker 10.1V).

The Tab 10.1's overall design takes a minimalist design cue from Apple, as well. Beyond the docking port, you have a power button and volume rocker at top (horizontal) or along the right side (vertical). Also along the right top is the headphone jack; it's awkwardly situated if you're holding the tablet horizontally and video chatting at the same time, since the jack is just off to the right above where the camera is. But if you flip the orientation to put the jack at the bottom of the horizontal display, or hold the tablet vertically, with the jack running along the right side, the jack's location works fine).

The stereo speakers are situated a little more than an inch down from the top, along the left and right horizontal edges. This position proved a good one, since my hands didn't get in the way of the speakers. The speakers sounded surprisingly good, among the better I've heard on Android tablets, far better than iPad 2's single rear-facing speaker. But that's not saying much; audio still sounded too tinny on my test tracks.

The 1280 by 800 pixel resolution display looks bright and brilliant, two characteristics we've come to associate with Samsung displays on its phones and tablets. Like the 7-inch Galaxy Tab before it, the display also has oversaturated colors. On a color chart test image, most of the colors, including reds and blues, were blown out. In our test images of sights and scenes, this tendency translated to images that popped, but had a bit too much red and blue thrown into the mix. In side-by-side comparison, the Apple iPad 2 generated better color reproduction, especially when it came to the soft browns for skin tones.

However, the Tab 10.1 rendered images with terrific sharpness and detail. This is the first Android tablet to ship natively with Google's Android 3.1 update. And images clearly benefit from the updated OS: Images were crisp, with no signs of the fuzzy rendering issue that plagued earlier the earlier Honeycomb versions.

    Inside the Galaxy Tab 10.1

Like other Honeycomb tablets, the Tab 10.1 runs Nvidia's Tegra 2 platform, with a dual-core 1GHz processor and 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi. The Tab 10.1 has many of the now-standard tablet accoutrements like a rear- and front- facing cameras (3- and 2-megapixels, respectively, with rear flash), gyroscope, accelerometer, digital compass, and ambient light sensor.

Impressively, the specs for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 have actually changed-for better and for worse--since its initial introduction at CTIA just a few months ago. Most notably, the weight has decreased-from 1.31 pounds to 1.24 pounds. Unfortunately, that weight reduction might be due to the now-gone microSD card slot, a disappointing omission given that would have provided a significant edge over the Apple iPad 2. Also missing so far: Any mention of a 64GB version, which was previously announced.

The Tab 10.1 supports Adobe Flash, but I was surprised to find my test unit came without Flash preinstalled. Nor did it have a shortcut on the desktop linking directly to Adobe's Flash Player on the Android Market, as other Honeycomb tablets have handled the Flash installation conundrum (since it's not native to the Android OS).

And yet, other file support surprises abound. The Tab 10.1 actually comes with support for Windows Media audio and video files (including .WMA, .WMV, and .AVI); these files are not natively supported by Android 3.1, so it's impressive that Samsung jumped in to the fill the void. It also can read Xvid, another format not noted on Android's official list.

The Tab 10.1 comes pre-loaded with Quickoffice HD, for reading and editing Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files as well as serving as a functional file browser. (Interesting observation: Files I downloaded via Gmail appear only in the Download folder, even though the images and videos appear directly in the Gallery app, and the music shows in the Music app.)

As initially shipped, the Tab 10.1 comes with stock Android 3.1 on-board, and very little to distinguish it. It is the first Honeycomb tablet to ship with Google's facile Android Movie Studio (the Google answer to Apple's iMovie on iOS). And it does have a customized keyboard from Nuance, with trace typing capabilities. This keyboard is the default keyboard, although you could switch to the native Honeycomb keyboard if you prefer. I found I liked the Samsung keyboard; it's gray, with black letters, large keys, and mostly useful shortcut keys (for example, @, .com, and :-) in the e-mail keyboard).

Beyond that, you get Samsung's attractive orange-and-blue sunrise-like wallpaper scheme; Samsung Apps, Samsung's nascent and for now, irrelevant app store; Samsung Music Hub, a music store and player powered by 7digital; and Pulse news reader.

Samsung's more customized overlay, TouchWiz UX, will be available later this summer as an over-the-air update. It's not available pre-installed at launch, Samsung says, because the company didn't have enough time to test it with Android 3.1. When the overlay does arrive, Samsung says the current plan is for users to be able to opt to use elements of it, or they can go back to stock Android. That said, we won't know the implementation for sure until it arrives.

TouchWiz UX will add a variety of interface customizations to improve Android 3.1's usability. It will also add Samsung's Media Hub movie and TV purchase and rental service, as well as Reader Hub (powered by Kobo Books and Zinio) and Social Hub (for accessing social networks under one roof).

Of note for business users: The Tab 10.1 can be set to encrypt user data, and supports enhanced Exchange ActiveSync, Cisco AnyConnect SSL VPN, and F5 SSL VPN.

    What You Sacrifice

By going slim and light, Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 makes some trade-offs. And those tradeoffs may limit, or at least temper, the Tab 10.1's appeal depending upon your needs. For starters, like Apple's iPad 2, it has no ports beyond its docking port, located centered along the horizontal bottom edge. To add connectivity, you'll need to invest in the optional dongles coming later this month.

Samsung will have docking port dongles to add USB, SD Card, and HDMI. Unfortunately, all of these feel like the afterthoughts they are; it would be nice to get to a point where at least HDMI and USB connectivity can be integrated directly into the tablet. Many competitors in the red-hot tablet space build in at least one such port, but those competitors are also far heavier, at 1.5 to 1.65 pounds. Once the dongles come available, I'll update the review with hands on.

Another thing I noticed in my casual testing: The 7000 mAh battery took inordinately long to charge. After two hours plugged in, my test unit only came up to about 30 percent charged. The battery is rated for up to nine hours of use.

Stay tuned for our full PCWorld Labs performance test results, including battery life and recharge times.

The full-scale launch of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wi-Fi comes June 17, when you'll be able to buy the tablet at Best Buy, as well as at Fry's Electronics and Micro Center; and online at Best Buy, Amazon.com, Tiger Direct and Newegg. The 32GB version is priced at $599, $100 more than the 16GB model; both prices match Apple's comparable offerings. Additional mobile broadband versions will come; Verizon starts its presale today for 4G varietals of the Tab 10.1, at a $130 premium over the Wi-Fi prices (same premium as on iPad).

    Bottom Line

Whether you go Wi-Fi only or opt for a connected version, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is the first Android tablet that makes a credible, and successful, run at competing with Apple's iPad 2. It matches iPad in most every way-design, price, and even that intangible IT factor. Where it falls short lies is in sacrificing ports, but that alone isn't a dealbreaker; heck, Apple's been doing that from the outset. Google's Android Market continues to make it more difficult to find tablet-optimized apps than Apple's App Store does, but again, that may not be a dealbreaker. If neither of those constraints phase you, then the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is one of the top tablets you can consider buying today. And it becomes the flagship Honeycomb tablet for showcasing what Android 3.1 can do.
