House Republican leaders have crafted legislation to keep the Federal Aviation Administration operating and are expected to soon introduce the plan, possibly as early as Friday, according to POLITICO?S Huddle and other reports.
A stopgap FAA bill expires next week, and Fox News reported that House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid met about the proposed extension legislation on Tuesday.
Continue ReadingAccording to the report, the bill would cover FAA programs through the end of the year ? without an extension, funding would run out Sept. 16 and many of the agency?s operations would be shuttered.
Republican Rep. John Mica of Florida is expected to introduce the temporary FAA funding extension on Friday, according to Huddle.
The agency?s funding last ran out this summer, and the FAA was partially shutdown in August before the House and Senate agreed to a short-term funding measure.?
