When a woman thinks about what can help PMS pain to be reduced, she needs to include several factors. Among the key things for her to consider is that most of the symptoms commonly associated with PMS are either triggered or made worse by changes in her body\?s hormonal balance that occur over the week to ten days before the onset of her period. Hormonal Imbalances are only one Cause of PMS Issues

Limiting life stressors is the first step a woman should take in dealing with PMS issues. Granted, this is more easily said than done, but there are things a woman can do to reduce external stressors.

The First Lines of Defense: Diet and Exercise

Diet and exercise are the two areas a woman can most easily adjust in order to conquer her PMS symptoms. By eating adequate amounts of fresh vegetables and fresh fruit (five to nine servings daily are recommended) and getting her full daily requirement of vitamins and minerals, a woman can help prevent the development of cramps, bloating, and mood swings, and ? if those symptoms do occur -their severity will be greatly reduced. In fact, the B vitamins, calcium, and magnesium are all noted for being particularly effective in this regard.

Another great way for a woman to deal with stress is to exercise. Joining a gym in order to reap exercise\?s benefits may be a good idea, but it\?s certainly not mandatory. A woman can increase her exercise by doing simple activities, like taking her dog to the park, going for a walk, taking up a sport, or going dancing. All of these bring greater movement into a woman\?s day, helping to fight stress and strengthen both her muscles and her immune system. Moderate exercise also will help her get better sleep, giving her body a chance to recover from its daily activities.

Supplements Provide Additional Help

While stress reduction, diet, and exercise all help women alleviate their PMS symptoms, occasionally additional help is called for. When that happens, most women can find relief by using over-the-counter herbal supplements. Herbs like white willow bark, damiana, black cohosh, wild yam, and red raspberry leaf have are much less harsh on a woman\?s body than conventional medications. These days, one can easily obtain supplements containing the above herbs, as well as vitamins and minerals that are specifically designed to deal with PMS symptoms. Often, women find that these are actually safer and more effective in treating their pain and their PMS symptoms.
